Build a Trex Transcend Composite Railing Package

Trex Transcend Composite Railing

Transcend rail panels use four sets of parts: top rail, bottom rail, baluster packs, and infill/hardware kits.

Top rails, which can be either a crown top rail or universal rail, can be used for horizontal and stair rail sections.

The universal rail should only be used when fastening a deck board to the top of the rail, for a "cocktail top" style.

Infill Kits:

Infill kits are what insert into the top and bottom rails to hold the balusters, glass, or mesh in place. They should be matched to your top/bottom rail colors, as they will also include the mounting hardware and gaskets. These are used where the railings meet the posts.

Square and round aluminum balusters:

Square composite balusters:

Glass infill channel (sets into top and bottom channels of the support rail) can be found on this page:

Glass panels should not be longer than 6', and can be ordered from your local glass supplier

Mesh panels can also be installed into universal or crown rails, with the following parts (for stair or horizontal panels):

Post sleeves are generally matched to caps and skirts, and are installed before railing panels.

Standard composite posts are 4-1/2" square, and have eased/beveled corners.

Wood 4x4s can be used as the support posts for the post sleeves, or for an easier installation you can use these surface-mounted structural aluminum posts

Graspable handrail is needed on composite stair rails, for code compliance.

Wall returns are used at the top and bottom of runs, to attach to the first and last stair posts

Splices are needed when more than one rod is needed on a straight section

Support mount brackets are used when a rod runs more than 6' without any other support
