  1. Q Can I use these nails for all the holes in my Simpson connectors?... Read more

    These nails can/should only be used in the holes that attach the hanger to the ledger or beam. 

    Other Simpson connectors generally require 3" or longer nails to fasten the connectors to adjacent members, for a stronger pullout strength. 

    Joist hangers especially should have longer 3" nails going through the side holes, into the joist, and then into the ledger/beam for additional vertical strength on the joist, as well as keeping the joist tied into the ledger/beam rather than just the joist hanger.
