“Hardwood” actually refers to the wood harvested from any deciduous (leafy) tree, and not coniferous trees (softwoods).
In the decking world, these naturally weather-resistant hardwoods harvested and milled for decking generally include:
- Tigerwood (Goncalo alves)
- Ipe (of the genus Handroanthus)
- Cumaru (Dipteryx odorata), also know as Brazilian Teak
- Teak (Tectona grandis)
